About the role

Availability Window

Our Tesco Colleague rate of pay starts from £11.02 an hour; this increases to £11.75 for stores inside the M25 but excluding London Boroughs and is £11.95 for stores within Inner London - London Boroughs. For all hours worked between midnight and 6am you will receive an additional night premium of £2.30 per hour worked. Additional payments may also apply depending on location and skills.

You will be responsible for
  • You'll help deliver Christmas for households across the nation.
  • You'll provide support in store during the busy festive period.
  • You could be stocking shelves and making sure products are where they need to be.
  • Or, you could be serving customers and putting together orders for our Click and Collect service.
  • Whatever the task, you'll take pride in making sure that customers get a brilliant experience.

You will need
  • A passion for delivering great service, greeting customers with a smile, and serving them with pride
  • The ability to build rapport with customers, meaning they leave the store having experienced a great shopping trip
  • To take the initiative and make decisions that are right for our customers
  • Work well within a team and communicate openly with others
  • Build relationships with colleagues to create a team spirit, having fun and celebrating success
  • Be at work on time, well presented and ready to be a brand ambassador

Armed Forces at Tesco: As a business, we’ve had a long-standing association with the Armed Forces ever since our founder, Jack Cohen started Tesco back in 1919 after leaving the Royal Flying Corps at the end of the First World War. Almost one per cent of all veterans leaving the Army join Tesco, and as the UK’s biggest private sector employer, we want to do everything we can to support our Armed Forces colleagues so that our business continues to be a place where everybody’s welcome and anyone can get on. We know moving into a civilian career can be as challenging as it is an opportunity, and we support ex-military personnel, providing many ways to aid their transition.

How we support our colleagues and customers with hidden disabilities

As one of the UK’s largest retailers we’re committed to supporting all our customers, including around 12 million people in the UK currently living with a disability – some visible, and some hidden.

To help us make each shopping trip a little easier, the Sunflower Lanyard initiative has been rolled out to all of our UK stores – helping customers with hidden disabilities to signal that they may need some assistance, and providing colleagues with extra confidence in offering help.
