PHD Global Business Unit, part of Omnicom Media Group, is looking for an Associate Director to support our central Digital Activation team. Our clients turn to us for superior media strategy, deep insights, and flawless execution of their digital marketing campaigns. We are delighted to have been appointed by a brand new client for our media services, strategic thinking and will be starting our collaboration in December 2023.

We help our clients use data from digital biddable channels to turn critical audience insights into action and move our clients' businesses forward. Our Digital Marketing services include Paid Search, Programmatic, Paid Social, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Display/Behavioural Targeting, Mobile Marketing, eCommerce search optimization, and more.

The role requires extensive experience managing Programmatic and/or Social activity and significant team management experience. The ideal candidate will be confident managing client relationships and managing a team towards the goal of driving quantifiable results for the client.

The individual will be part of an international team of 50 people based in London. This role reports to the Activation Director, and is integrated into all aspects of programmatic, social & search marketing for the brand client and its many products. The successful candidate will have insight into work being done for the client far beyond our performance remit, providing a valuable opportunity to see inside marketing campaigns and strategies globally.

Team Management
  • Manage a team of 5+ managers, planners and/or buyers
  • Be responsible for your team's output, acting as the escalation point when required
  • Work with managers and/or snr planners to prioritize resources across the client set
  • Lead PDP reviews and goal setting for your team and ensure the team has Personal Development Plans and career maps where necessary
  • Challenge high performers with new projects
  • Encourage team culture and retention by fostering a culture which enables sharing, innovation, and pro-activeness
  • Make new resource requirement requests as revenue and/or client demand necessitate them
  • Contributing to the PHD company culture, whether it's writing POVs, participating in our charity events, or sharing your latest Excel trick
  • Support channel training to both team and wider agency stakeholders

Strategic Account Management
  • Lead day to day communication between the agency, our international offices and international client stakeholders as required
  • Grow relationships with clients, specifically the senior level brand or media managers for your pod of business, and be a key POC to Digital Leadership at the client regarding Social & Programmatic
  • Lead and/or participate in local senior level client meetings and attend regular client status meetings as appropriate
  • Present to clients in such a way as to demonstrate a cultural understanding of market dynamics and the relevant nuances
  • Uncover and understand client objectives, challenges, and needs in order to actively provide solutions for brands across Programmatic & Social. Example of solutions include: Reporting Dashboards and Templates, Forecasting Methodology, Paid Media Integration with other activity, Best Practice documents, POV's on the latest industry developments, or Optimization Roadmaps
  • Create & maintain a framework for Quarterly Business Reviews
  • Develop the account & provide strategic value. Drive the innovation agenda, ensuring that the client is at the forefront of Search, Programmatic & Social
  • Identify potential upsell opportunities to provide additional digital channel management, analysis, and insight to new brands and/or markets
  • Support global or regional pitches for new business, providing Social/ Programmatic expertise

Campaign Management/Optimization
  • Provide Digital Leadership including status updates on Programmatic & Social deliverables on a regular basis, including management of deadlines and reporting
  • Managing the creation of integrated digital media plans based off a sound technical understanding of the digital eco-system and available platforms
  • Understanding partner(s) technology capability/functionality
  • Helping identify new Programmatic partners & Social platforms for your client
  • Conduct analysis of ongoing results to identify campaign trends and key insights to help meet and exceed client goals
  • Work with your team to deliver business goals (i.e. ROI/budget/traffic) and assisting junior members of the team with their campaign activation, optimization and reporting
  • Maintain consistently high standards within the team for data accuracy & reporting

Experience and Skills:
  • Experience working in Programmatic and/or Social activation
  • Demonstrate passion and knowledge of the Programmatic & Ad Tech and/or Social channel
  • Team Management experience and a passion for developing people
  • Have a passion for learning new things
  • Have strong organizational skills, being able to manage multiple projects at once
  • Ability to manage challenges of various clients and market interests in a culturally sensitive manner
  • Have excellent numerical skills and confidence analysing data using Excel
  • Be a proactive self-starter
  • Have excellent communication and listening skills
  • Be responsive to feedback
  • Strong spoken & written English
  • Ability to speak other European languages is desired, but not essential
