This is a brand-new sales role within our Industrial PPE division which will provide ongoing and future career development and progression within the RS Group.

The purpose of the role is to drive profitable sales growth through brand new customer agreements. As the market leader in our space, we currently hold c.4% market share so the opportunity for growth is huge. This role builds and maintains effective long-term relationships with key senior-level decision makers and influencers within a group of targeted and strategic customers that have either a geographic or industry focus. The main emphasis of this position, Identifies, develops, and typically closes new sales opportunities and creates demand for our organization's products and services by raising our profile within the identified potential new customers.

What you will be doing:

The National Business Development Manager role is to achieve increased revenue and profit targets through the introduction of completely new business to RS Safety Solutions and conduct discovery meetings with the customer's senior management to understand their needs and link them to the organization's product/service strategies.

You will work across all vertical market sectors to hunt out new customer targets, either through known competitor agreements, researched information or by working in collaboration with colleagues within the RS team. This is a new and exciting role for the business where we aim to bring significant sales and profit growth.The successful candidate will work within a matrix sales organisation and will be required to engage with Regional, Internal and Value-Added Sales teams to maximise our effectiveness in the securing of new customer agreements.

Due to the nature of this role the successful candidate will be required to travel nationally to visit customers and colleagues, therefore, there is an expectation to be away from home as required to fulfil the role. We don't anticipate this to be more than 2 evenings per week. There may also be the requirement to receive or pass customer leads between RS UK&I and other RS Group sister companies.

What do I need to be successful?

If you have the following skills and experience, we want to hear from you:
  • Proven track record of success within a new business environment or similar environment with a minimum of 3 years' experience.
  • Deep understanding and use of negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of selling complex solutions in a B2B environment.
  • Previous experience working to a sales pipeline process where closure of opportunities is key.
  • The ability to positively influence customers, colleagues, and suppliers to achieve the desired outcome.
  • To manage the seamless transition of the newly contracted customer to a member of the RS Safety Solutions Area Account Manager team.
