Our Large Corporate Insurance team is committed to providing exceptional service and protection to our largest clients. With accounts ranging from £100,000 to £6.5mil, we cater to the diverse needs of businesses across various industries. What sets us apart is our unwavering customer focus, demonstrated by our impressive average corporate customer tenure of 10 years. Our team operates cohesively, with Sales, Underwriting, and Claims professionals working in unison to deliver bespoke insurance solutions tailored to each client's unique requirements.
As a Senior Underwriter within the department, you'll manage a portfolio of clients' accounts, with a primary focus on complex liability matters. You'll use your technical expertise in this area to deal with referrals from the team and feedback valuable market insights to help drive key business decisions.
Whilst the role doesn't involve direct line management, you'll have the opportunity to coach less experienced Underwriters within the team. With one of the higher underwriting authorisation limits, typically signed off within a few months, you'll have the authority to make impactful decisions.
Additionally, you'll collaborate with other teams across the department as well as Head Office Underwriting, Broker Development Managers, and Commercial Account Managers. You'll also engage directly with Agents and Brokers, and occasionally clients too.
Beyond case underwriting, this role will allow you to contribute to process improvements and review coverages and policy wordings, reflecting our dedication to continuous evolution and excellence in underwriting.
About you
You'll have an extensive background in liability underwriting, particularly with a proven track record in handling complex cases and premiums exceeding £50,000 - ideally working with corporate client accounts. This experience will be partnered with a deep understanding of the General Insurance (GI) market landscape, and you'll be able to demonstrate a knowledge of GI pricing and rating rationales.
In addition, you'll have:
- A solutions-focused mindset, coupled with a keen customer orientation - this will be instrumental in delivering tailored insurance solutions that meet our clients' evolving needs.
- Effective communication with the ability to articulate complex and technical solutions to a diverse range of audiences.
- An ability to influence, negotiate, and build strong relationships.
- A meticulous attention to detail and critical thinking skills that will enable you to consider broader implications.
- Previous experience coaching less experienced team members.
