Duties & Responsibilities
In a challenging retail world the demand for a high performing Finance function is more important than ever. The role of Finance in the Partnership is to work at the heart of the business, providing great insight and control to strengthen our position and grow value. As a Partner and Professional Finance Apprentice, you will seek to actively drive our performance and influence key decisions using data and commercial acumen. You will be encouraged and respected for your opinions and ideas. We will give you access to the tools to build your knowledge and technical skills, giving you the opportunity to influence our performance and strengthen the role of Finance.
We want to see you demonstrate a passion and interest for the industry and a genuine desire to learn and grow. Our aim will be to give you the fullest experience of our Finance function so we ask that you work flexibly between our Head Offices in Bracknell and London.

This apprenticeship scheme will run for approximately 36 months and involves a series of modules and exams,(working towards the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants qualification; CIMA) learning activities and reflection tasks which are based around the skills, knowledge and behaviours set out by the national apprenticeship standard. Progress reviews will take place regularly with an external training provider and your line manager. At the end of the programme, you will be required to demonstrate that you meet the national standard through a process called ‘End Point Assessment’ (EPA). This consists of an exam and a professional discussion. You will need to pass the EPA to successfully complete the apprenticeship.
Throughout the period of the apprenticeship you will gain experience in a variety of roles in the Finance function, emerging as a fully CIMA qualified professional ready to continue your career in the Partnership.
You will be allocated a buddy with a well known accountancy network and one of our line managers will work closely with you throughout the scheme to support your career and empower you to unlock your potential.
You will develop excellent technical skills, as well as the organisational and leadership skills necessary to thrive as a finance professional within the Partnership. As with all apprenticeships, this programme requires commitment and self managed learning from the apprentice.
Please note, applications will be screened against specific criteria relevant to the Apprentice Scheme, with successful candidates being invited to a telephone interview in the second half of January or early February. Those who are successful at the telephone interview stage will be invited to attend an assessment centre in Bracknell or Victoria which will take place during the first 2 weeks of March.
The apprenticeship scheme is due to commence in September 2019.
This role is subject to the following pre-employment screening: 3 year reference check, 5 year Probity and Basic Disclosure.
Required essential experience skills and qualifications
- Degree 2:1 or above (or predicted) in any discipline, or L4 Finance/Accounting Apprenticeship.
Demonstrable evidence of:
- Analytical skills; particularly with regard to data management and/or financial analysis
- Commercial experience in a retail or similar fast-moving industry
- The ability to work accurately and at pace,the ability to evaluate risk
- The ability to assimilate, comment on, and make proposals, influencing key decisions
- The ability to produce coherent reports using appropriate language and allocation of words
Not have attained a finance qualification higher than CIMA Certificate Level or ACCA Knowledge Level.
Candidates must have level 2 Maths and English (equivalent to GCSE grade C or above).
