Job Title: Oracle E-Business Suite Technical Lead
Contract: 12 month fixed term contract
Reports to: Programme Manager

Department Description

Information Systems (IS) is Channel Four Television's dedicated, in-house department, providing systems and IS services to all areas of the business, using a mix of internal and external resources.

The IS Systems Delivery function is responsible for all project delivery and application support activities across Channel 4.

Job Purpose

Working from within the Corporate Systems team across all areas of support and project work for Finance, HR and Corporate Services, with a primary focus on Oracle eBusiness Suite Financials, HR and Payroll.

The ideal candidate is an experienced lead technical analyst, specialising in the support, extension and customisation of Oracle's R12 eBusiness Suite software, bringing to all projects a pragmatic, delivery-oriented approach, plus a solid functional understanding of the core Oracle eBusiness Suite modules. The candidate must also capable of leading and managing on site developers or those working for Channel4 via a 3rd party supplier.

Key Responsibilities

Technical - Oracle eBusiness Suite
Advise on the most supportable, efficient, effective and supportable ways to extend the functionality of Oracle's off-the-shelf eBusiness Suite applications.
Design and build bespoke reporting solutions, utilising Oracle's BI Publisher output formatting, bursting and delivery, and/or Oracle Discoverer.
Manage on-line approval routing and notifications, using Oracle's Approvals Management Engine (AME) and/or Oracle Workflow.
Customise and configure standard Oracle Applications workflows, or design and build new, bespoke workflows.
Modify the behaviour of core Oracle Applications screens to satisfy specific business needs, without invalidating Oracle's support, using Oracle's Forms Personalisation functionality, or via Custom Library (custom.pll).
Design and build custom user interfaces based on Oracle Applications Framework technology, using Oracle's JDeveloper integrated development environment.
Design and build data conversions and interfaces between third-party systems (including cloud applications) and Oracle's eBusiness Suite instance, using tried-and-tested methods .(including SOAP and REST API's, and Mulesoft's AnyPoint integration platform).
Experience of the full system development and implementation lifecycle: from inception, design, build and test, to a live, fully-supported system, accepted by the business stakeholder.
Project planning: lead Oracle-centric projects, planning the overall design, build and test effort, the integration with legacy systems, and work in conjunction with other project teams.
Assess architectural approaches and their impact on project work.
Project control: monitor the project execution to ensure that the plan is being followed. Obtain approval for changes to the scope, and ensure that approved changes are implemented
Ensure that work is delivered within the IS Delivery Framework, including the delivery of project artefacts and documentation. Resolve or escalate project issues.
Provide estimates for project deliverables.

Work closely with other key C4 staff, including developers, architects and systems analysts to design and implement best-practice technical solutions to business requirements as they arise.
Liaise with peers to improve standards, design and consistency of approach.
Build relationships with stakeholders across the business.
Develop an understanding of key C4 business processes, and their strengths and weaknesses, across the organisation.
Mentor and provide guidance to other team members.
Enforce best-practice ways of working for development and project teams, including environment strategies, source control and release management, coding and naming standards.

Essential Experience and Skills

Experience of the full software development delivery lifecycle for technology projects, from requirements and design through technical delivery to implementation.
Experience and a specialist in the support, extension and customisation of Oracle's R12 eBusiness Suite software:
Software upgrades
User interface development
Data conversion

Experience of Oracle eBusiness projects, with a proven ability of a providing a pragmatic, delivery-oriented approach, and a solid functional understanding of the core Oracle eBusiness Suite modules, in addition to the full range of Oracle Applications development and integration skills:
Oracle SQL & PL/SQL
Oracle Reports
Oracle BI (XML) Publisher
Oracle Workflow
Oracle Discoverer
Oracle Applications Framework (Self-Service Web Applications) and JDeveloper

Integration experience using platforms such as Mulesoft's AnyPoint platform and Jitterbit.
Experience of multi-tasking across several concurrent projects and activities.
