In this role, you'll develop, execute and monitor the science strategy for the Drug-Resistant Infections (DRI) programme, leading a small team to deliver ambitious and high-impact scientific activities in line with the wider aims of the DRI programme.
The Science lead will provide oversight and guidance to the DRI portfolio of activities generating the evidence necessary for intervention development and policy change. The post holder will develop and nurture partnerships between the DRI team and other organisations nationally and internationally across both the public and private sectors.
He/she will advocate for Wellcome and the DRI programme objectives at national and international levels, identifying opportunities for the DRI programme to provide global leadership and influence decision making.
You'll bring a strong understanding of the antimicrobial resistance challenge and potential strategies for dealing with it, equally a systems thinker with strong understanding of the science policy interface and the impact that drug-resistant infections has across humans, animals and the environment. Coming into this role, you will be familiar with the ecosystem of organisations working on AMR, including multilateral agencies, national and sub-national governments, academic and research institutions, civil society organisations, private sector and other funders.
