Job Description

As a Finance Apprentice at HS2, you’ll support the Finance team to ensure public funds are spent wisely and you’ll help to ensure our massive, complex project provides excellent value for taxpayers’ money. You will provide administrative support and assist with day-to-day financial activities such as data entry to month-end management accounts and year-end financial statements. 
About the role: On completion of your apprenticeship, you will gain the AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting and will become eligible to apply for AAT associate bookkeeping membership. You’ll also gain skills and experience that will set you up for an incredibly rewarding career.
Over the two years you will cover various topics, including:
Record and analyse financial data; Communicate to all stakeholders; Accountancy principles; Financial accounting and reporting; Competently use office and accounting packages and maintain security of accounting information using passwords and backup routines; Solve problems effectively by applying a range of techniques and tools. 


About You: To join us on an Apprenticeship Programme, you’ll need to have achieved or expect to achieve 5 GCSEs at grades A* - C, including English and Maths, or equivalent qualifications.
You will have a keen interest in the HS2 project and you will find the idea of working on HS2 appealing. In turn, you will also be able to demonstrate:
The ability to organise your workload and meet agreed deadlines; The ability to analyse numerical data; The ability to communicate with stakeholders at various levels within an organization;  The ability to build good working relationships with your colleagues and contacts across the organisation and outside with external partners; The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
The Apprentice will be expected to demonstrate, at all times, behaviour aligned to HS2’s values of Integrity, Respect, Leadership and Safety.

It is expected that you will actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI. About Us: High Speed 2 (HS2) will be the UK’s new high speed rail network.
