Job Description

As a Communications Apprentice you’ll help manage the public image and reputation of HS2.   
You will be responsible for researching and understanding HS2’s corporate goals, and supporting day-to-day delivery of effective campaigns in order to deliver organisational objectives. This could take various forms including supporting social media activity, developing blogs and press releases or planning events.
About the role: The Apprenticeship Programme will span over a period of two years, which will involve working at HS2 and studying at College.  

Over the two years you will cover various topics, including:
How to monitor and react to external opinions of a client or employer; Writing and editing communications such as website pages, press releases, newsletters and brochures; Managing client and media relationships; Helping plan public relations (PR) campaigns; Understanding an organisation's goals. 


About You: To join us on an Apprenticeship Programme, you’ll need to have achieved or expect to achieve 5 GCSEs at grades A* - C (9 - 4), including English and Maths, or equivalent qualifications.
You will have a keen interest in the HS2 project and you will find the idea of working on HS2 appealing. In turn, you will also be able to demonstrate:
The ability to organise your workload and to meet agreed deadlines; The ability to communicate with stakeholders at various levels within an organization;  The ability to engage and influence;  The ability to build good working relationships with your colleagues and contacts across the organisation and outside with external partners; The ability to work independently and as part of a team; The ability to produce and present information to a variety of audiences.
The Apprentice will be expected to demonstrate, at all times, behaviour aligned to HS2’s values of Integrity, Respect, Leadership and Safety.

It is expected that you will actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.
