As an Apprentice – Project Management, you’ll transform insight into impact. With real responsibilities, you’ll discover how to organise, plan and make decisions about how we’ll build the new railway and transform Britain. Over two years, you’ll play an active part in teams that are designing HS2 and making decisions about the best way to bring it to life.
As part of this apprenticeship, you will gain an internationally recognised Level 4 qualification in project management. You’ll also gain skills and experience that will set you up for an incredibly rewarding career. What’s more, you could go on to gain further qualifications with the Association of Project Management and even gain Chartered status, all of which means you’ll open doors to many opportunities, not just in rail but in a whole range of industries.
About the role:
The Apprenticeship Programme will span over a period of two years, which will involve working at HS2 and studying at College.
Over the two years you will cover various topics including:
Structure of organisations and projects;
Project life cycle;
Project stakeholder management;
Budget and cost control.
To join us on an Apprenticeship Programme, you’ll need to have achieved or expect to achieve 5 GCSEs at grades A* - C (9 - 4), including English and Maths, or equivalent qualifications.
You will have a keen interest in the HS2 project and you will find the idea of working on HS2 appealing. In turn, you will also be able to demonstrate:
The ability to organise your workload and meet agreed deadlines;
The ability to communicate with stakeholders at various levels within an organization;
The ability to plan and lead;
The ability to build good working relationships with your colleagues and contacts across the organisation and outside with external partners;
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
The Apprentice will be expected to demonstrate, at all times, behaviour aligned to HS2’s values of Integrity, Respect, Leadership and Safety.
It is expected that you will actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.
High Speed 2 (HS2) will be the UK’s new high speed rail network. As well as improving capacity, the new scheme will shorten journey times between a number of Britain’s major population centres, boost the economy and create thousands of jobs.
