Job Description

As an Apprentice – Human Resources (HR) your work will include handling day-to-day queries and providing HR advice and working on a range of HR processes, ranging of transactional to relatively complex, from recruitment through to retirement. You will be using an HR system to keep records, to provide relevant HR information to the business and work with the business on HR changes. You may be required to make decisions and recommendations on what the business can/should do in a specific situation. You will influence managers to change their thinking as well as bring best practice into the organisation. You may also be involved in people related elements of the business or HR projects.
About the role: The Apprenticeship Programme will span over a period of two years, which will involve working at HS2 and studying at College.  

Over the two years you will cover various topics including:
Business understanding;  HR function;  HR systems and processes;  HR legislation and policy. 


About You: To join us on an Apprenticeship Programme, you’ll need to have achieved or expect to achieve 5 GCSEs at grades A* - C (9 - 4), including English and Maths, or equivalent qualifications.
You will have a keen interest in the HS2 project and you will find the idea of working on HS2 appealing. In turn, you will also be able to demonstrate:
The ability to organise your workload and to meet agreed deadlines; The ability to communicate with stakeholders at various levels within an organization;  The ability to understand the needs of others and provide appropriate support; The ability to build good working relationships with your colleagues and contacts across the organisation and outside with external partners; The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
The Apprentice will be expected to demonstrate, at all times, behaviour aligned to HS2’s values of Integrity, Respect, Leadership and Safety.

It is expected that you will actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.
