Job Description

As an Apprentice – Commercial Procurement and Supply Chain, you’ll bring together vision and value. Making sure public funds are spent wisely, you’ll help to ensure our massive, complex project provides excellent value for taxpayers’ money. You will help select and buy a wide range of products and services which will build the new railway, as well as have an input on decision making taking place across the organisation.
Over two years, you’ll gain a recognised Level 4 qualification in procurement and supply. You’ll also gain skills and experience that will set you up for an incredibly rewarding career. What’s more, you could go on to gain further study with the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply, and even gain Chartered status yourself, all of which means you’ll open doors to many opportunities - from the public sector to transport and energy companies.
About the role: The Apprenticeship Programme will span over a period of two years, which will involve working at HS2 and studying at College.  

Over the two years you will cover various topics including:
Effective negotiation skills; Understanding business needs; Pricing; Supplier management;  Budget control. 


About You: To join us on an Apprenticeship Programme, you’ll need to have achieved or expect to achieve 5 GCSEs at grades A* - C (9 - 4), including English and Maths, or equivalent qualifications.
You will have a keen interest in the HS2 project and you will find the idea of working on HS2 appealing. In turn, you will also be able to demonstrate:
The ability to organise your workload and meet agreed deadlines; The ability to check facts, with a keen eye for detail; The ability to communicate with stakeholders at various levels within an organization;  The ability to build good working relationships with your colleagues and contacts across the organisation and outside with external partners; The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
The Apprentice will be expected to demonstrate, at all times, behaviour aligned to HS2’s values of Integrity, Respect, Leadership and Safety.

It is expected that you will actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.
